When Did Online Advertising Get So Confusing?

I remember when I first began selling ads on my first successful website. All I did was place some advertise here banners into my website design and waited for the advertisers to show up. A few did arise from my existing audience, and I found a few more by emailing the owners of websites/stores that I thought would be a good fit for my audience.

That was simple. It was just me, the publisher, and the advertiser giving me a monthly fee for their ad. They gave me the banners and away we went. All very personal and easy to understand.

Then this happened…

Watch the video and you will see that while online advertising has certainly become more sophisticated, it’s become way too confusing for the little guy to understand. Too many competing services and too many layers meaning you rarely know who is paying you for what on your website.

Here at CrankyAds we are all about bringing back the direct publisher to advertiser relationship with direct ad buys. It’s simple, everyone knows each other and the terms are clearly laid out. Advertisers know what they are paying for, who their money is going to and what sites their ads will appear on. Publishers know what ads are running and what they are getting paid.

Sometimes with the advancement of technology, the little guys get left behind. That’s why we are here, to help you take the cranky-ness out of the ad buying process.

    Hi Yaro,

You make a great point. Most publishers really do crave simplicity.

Indeed, keeping things simple reminds me of martial artist Bruce Lee who insisted “the height of cultivation always runs to simplicity”. Wise words.

In view of this, when are CrankyAds making their advertising service available to other platforms? I am sure I speak for many thousands of non-Wordpress users, when I say we would love to see this happen soon.

    Kind Regards,

    Lee

Hi Lee – Soon enough! We are working on a lowest hanging fruit process at the moment based on user feedback and the amount of time it takes to create new features.

Making a non-wordpress version is very high on the list (#3 in fact), but it’s not a quick job, so we won’t start it until the quick jobs are complete.
