After overwhelming feedback from the CrankyAds community we are pleased to announce the release of two new exciting features.
- You can now choose from three different “advertise here” ads or upload your own advertise here banner, which display when you have unsold ad inventory in any ad zone.
- You can also add your own custom code to display when you have unsold ads. This can primarily be used to include Google Adsense when you haven’t sold out of direct ad spots.
You can choose to include both these options, or only have Adsense running, or only advertise here ads running, or nothing, in which case if you have no ads sold the space will be blank.

These features were put to the top of our development list after asking our audience what they most wanted to see added to CrankyAds.
It’s pretty clear you want to have more options with how you use CrankyAds when you haven’t sold any ads, or when you have spare ad spots available.
Now you can use CrankyAds to manage not only your direct ad sales, your affiliate ads and internal campaigns, but also Google Adsense, or any other custom code you want to place. This makes CrankyAds a fantastic all-in-one, yet very simple to use advertising management system.
We hope you enjoy these new features and a huge thanks to our development team of Walter and Mick for pumping out these great new options.

Awesome. Long awaited feature. I will give it a try.
Geo-Targetting will be an awesome feature to have in the next update.
Glad you like it Raghu. Geotargeting hasn’t been a very requested feature so I suspect we won’t turn our attention to it for a while yet, unless of course enough users demand it.
Yaro…Thanks for the nice new features.
By the way, can Cranky Ads plugin be uploaded via the normal back office uploader in WordPress? I didn’t see it come up when I did a search.
You are welcome Eli. I’ll check with the dev team regarding the back office uploader. I don’t think we can do that until we submit to the wordpress directory, so probably not just yet.
Yaro, very cool idea, the extra option of using something other than adsense is a nice feature as well.
Glad you like the new features Dan!
I already have Adsense running on my website. Can I still place additional Adsense ads using CrankyAds?
Hi Carlos, yes you can, or basically you just use CrankyAds to manage the adsense.
You can put the adsense code straight on your site, OR create an ad zone in CrankyAds, select AdSense as an option to run when you have unsold ad places, and then put your adsense code into CrankyAds. That way you get the best of both worlds.
Another great idea, Yaro.
The new updated plugin of CrankyAds is working fine now after the troubles a few weeks ago due to a PHP and MySQL server upgrade and the quick action from you and Walter to fix it.
I will try out this new Adsense option in place of the affiliate links I previously had. I did not have a lot of luck with those, so hopefully the Adsense will earn some money while I am still trying to find advertisers.
Thank you for all the work and effort you put into this plugin to make live easier for us all.

This is awesome. Thanks!
I would love to be able to use CrankyAds across multiple sub-domains on my sight. Then it would be super useful!
It’s a great option, we can still earn some money from the unsold ad spots…I have small issue with the adsense ads, on the unsold location it only aligns to left, I would like to center it but even if I add the code in custom box, it is not taking it…
Hi Sanjeev,
Could you please enable AdSense again on your site and let me know when you’ve done that, so that I can see what’s happening? Google Ads (and other javascript ads in general) tend to add their own styles which can interfere in some ways, but I need to see it in action on your site.
Cheers
Walter
I have it enable on my site, You can check adsense ads coming after the post and after the comment section. They are justified left, usually I put tag to get it in center, I have added that to my custom code also but it is not working.
Hi Sanjeev,
Yes I see the problem now. I’ll need to look into this a bit more before I can fix it so I’ve added a bug to our system and will work on it with the team Wednesday next week. I’ll let you know how it goes.
Cheers
Walter
I wonder if Cranky Ads would look into having a way for us to sell and manage site reskins/takeovers as well. That would be AMAZING!!! and soooooooo helpful.
Hi Erica,
Do you have crankyads do wordpress themes? That’s an interesting idea – you are basically saying using crankyads as a shopping cart, which is a little left field from our focus (and probably beyond us at this stage too!).
Keep the feedback and ideas coming though!
Yaro
Can CrankyAds be used in blogspot.com by Google?
Hi Rajeev,
No at the moment CrankyAds only works with WordPress as a WordPress plugin. We have a task to extend CrankyAds to non-wordpress blogs which means you could put Javascript code anywhere on your site but I can’t say when this will be ready.
Cheers
Walter
I can’t wait until you get cranky ads for non -wordpress sites-that would be great for bloggers if you could extend it to use for blogspot.com or even any of the other ones.
I’ll be watching for the release. Thank you CrankyAds
We hope to have it one day soon too Wanda!
